Accepted forms of proof for your child’s birthdate include:

Completion of online enrollment requires parents/guardians to provide verification of up-to-date immunization records to the central enrollment registrars. Proof of immunization records can be uploaded directly into the online application located on the "Student Documents" page.  Immunization records can also be emailed to enrollment@excelsior.com or you may bring in the records to your school site.

Students will not be enrolled unless their immunization record is submitted and is up to date. 

*Students who qualify under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act and Foster Students have the right to immediate enrollment without delay if they are unable to provide immunization records. Students receiving Special Education Services are exempt from providing immunization records.

By Law, if parents are legally separated or divorced, each parent has equal rights to the custody to the child/children UNLESS the parent has court order that indicates differently. 

The school MUST HAVE A COPY OF THE COURT ORDER on file. Otherwise, either parent may check the child out of school, obtain education information as well as make educational decisions with proper identification. 

*A custody order may supersede the rights granted by Education code. Education code 21101 enumerates parents rights regarding school. Subsection (d) Limits those rights when they conflict with a valid restraining order, protective order, or order for custody or visitation issued by a court of competent jurisdiction. 

If you are expelled for any offenses listed in §§48915(a)&(c), you may not enroll in school in another district during your expulsion period (§48915.2). You may only enroll in a county community school, juvenile court school, or community day school (§48915.2(a)). If you are expelled for any other offense, you can enroll in school in another district during your expulsion period. You or your parent/guardian must inform the new district that you were expelled from your previous school and the governing board shall hold a hearing to determine whether you pose a continuing danger to other students or school employees (§§48915.1(a)&(b)). The governing board may decide to deny enrollment, permit enrollment, or permit conditional enrollment in a regular school program or other educational program (§48915.1(d)).

Charter schools are not allowed to discourage a pupil from enrolling or seeking to enroll in the charter school because the pupil exhibits any characteristics such as students with disabilities, academically low achieving, English learners, neglected or delinquent, homeless, socially economically disadvantaged, foster youth, or based on nationality, race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. Charter schools are not allowed to request a pupil's records before enrollment or encourage a child who is enrolled in a charter school to disenroll or transfer to another school. A parent, guardian, or pupil (18 years or older) may file a Charter School Complaint Form to the authorizing entity if they suspect the charter school is in violation of Education Code Section 47605(e)(4).
